Kathleen D. (Hawley) Grieve, 75, of Norton went home to be with the lord on Monday January 8, 2007 surrounded by her loving family at Miriam Hospital in Providence, Rhode Island. She was the beloved wife of Andrew I. Grieve, Sr. to whom she was wed to on July 10, 1956.
Born in River Ryan, Nova Scotia Canada on January 3, 1932 she was a loving daughter of the late Matthew and Delores (Premboke) Hawley.
She was educated in Canada and received her nursing degree from St. Joseph’s Hospital also in Canada. Mrs. Grieve was a retired Registered Nurse having worked at the Wrentham Development Center before retiring in 1996.
Kathleen was a daily communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Norton. She enjoyed quilting and knitting but especially she enjoyed raising her loving family. They will always remember with fondness her talent for baking. Recently she and her husband had renewed their wedding vows during the celebration of their 50 years of marriage.
Kathleen had made her home in Norton for the past 40 years.
In addition to her loving husband she is survived by her devoted children Winnifred Walker and her husband Ben of Allentown, Penn., Bridget Grieve-Carlson and her husband Gary of Anneville, Penn., Rita Cronin of Norton, Andrew I. Grieve, Jr. of Norton, Mary Soper of North Attleboro, Cecilia Arbour and her husband George of Norton, Patrick Grieve and his wife Monica of Norton, Jacqueline Grieve Lindblad and her husband Eric of Belmont, Theresa Beattie of Norton, David Grieve and his wife Lorie of Columbus, Ohio and the late Edward O. Grieve who died on May 6, 1994. Her Sisters and brother Anna Hussey, Adeline MacDonald and Bernard Hawley all of Canada and the late Winnifred Russell, Fr. Pius Hawley, James Hawley and Patrick Hawley. Also surviving are her 15 cherished grandchildren as well as her many nieces, nephews and friends.
Her funeral, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Friday January 12th at 9:00 A.M. from the Norton Memorial Funeral home 19 Clapp St. (Off Route 140, Taunton Ave) Norton followed by a mass of Christian burial celebrated at 10:00 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church, South Worcester St., Norton. Burial will follow in the Timothy Plain Cemetery, Norton.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday January 11th from 5-8 P.M. at the funeral home.
