Dorothy L. “Dot” (Rhodes) Roach died peacefully Saturday January 6th in the Anna Jaques Hospital in Newburyport, MA surrounded by family and friends. She was 100 years old.
Born in Brockton on January 8, 1906 a daughter of the late Thomas and Grace (Hanchet) Rhodes, Dot attended Whitman Schools and made a career at Bostonian Shoe, where she retired in the late 1960s.
She was a former communicant of the Holy Ghost Church, a member of the Whitman Senior Citizens Club, the Harvard Court Committee and the 4B’s Club.
She was a great friend to many.
She was the loving mother of Leonard Roach of Lawrenceburg, KY and Barbara Siekman and her husband Charles of Argyle, ME, sister of Robert Rhodes and his wife Betty Jane of Meredith, NH and the late Stanley and Wesley Rhodes and Stella Burbine. She is survived by her grandchildren; Mary Margaret Burke of Haverhill, Matthew Burke of Portsmouth, NH, Jennifer Plimpton and her husband Jeffrey of Exeter, NH, Christopher Burke and his wife Nicky of Windham, ME, Michael Burke and his fiancé Katherine Best of Dover, NH and Jerry Roach of Lexington, KY, seven great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Her funeral service will be held Thursday January 11th at 9:15 AM from the Blanchard Funeral Chapel (Rte 58 @ the Rotary Circle) Whitman, followed by a mass at 10:00 AM in the Holy Ghost Church, School Street, Whitman.
