Obituary

BRUCE BUNTEN, 81, a Hingham resident for the past 59 years, died on Saturday, Jan. 6th at the South Shore Hospital in Weymouth. Mr. Bunten was born in Brockton and spent his early life in Winchester, MA. He was a graduate of Tabor Academy in Marion, MA and Tufts University. He was a US Navy veteran of World War II. For many years, Mr. Bunten was the Personnel Director for the Stone and Webster engineering firm. From 1955 to 2000, he was an Associate Professor of Human Relations at Northeastern University. He was a past president of A.I.M. (Associated Industries of Massachusetts), a member of the Hingham Yacht Club and a former member of the Old Ship Church in Hingham. He was a voracious reader and for the past several years, he and his wife volunteered to read for the students at the Foster School in Hingham. Mr. Bunten was an avid outdoorsman, Boston sports fan and world traveller.

He leaves his wife, Gail T. (Hughes) Bunten of Hingham, and was the father of; Gain R. Bunten of Herndon, VA, John E. Bunten of Pueblo, CO, Andrew S. Bunten of Marshfield and Elizabeth A. O'Connell of Woodstown, NJ. He was the brother of Jean Kirby of Washington State and the late Ruth Ketchum. Also survived by 5 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral services and interment are to be private. Visiting hours and flowers omitted by request.

In lieu of flowers, for those who wish, donations may be made in his memory to the charity of choice.
