Doris E. Gagne, 72

Doris E. (Cota) Gagne, 72, of North Attleboro died on Sunday January 7, 2007 at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. She was the beloved wife of the late Edmund G. Gagne to whom she was wed to for over 44 years at the time of his death on May 19, 2005.
Born in Worcester, MA on June 1, 1934 she was a loving daughter of the late George L. and Violet (Crawford) Cota, Sr. and the late May (Paulin) Cota.
She grew up in Western, MA and later moved to Norton where she was educated in Norton schools. She went on to become a graduate of the former Pondville School of Nursing. She later received her diploma in Drug and Alcohol Counseling at Stonehill College.
Mrs. Gagne had worked over the past 25 years as a Licensed Practical Nurse at the NORCAP Lodge in Foxboro. She had formerly worked at the Former Country Haven Nursing Home in Norton for several years.
A person of great spiritual belief Doris was actively involved with AA for over 32 years. Thru the years she helped others to overcome their problems and at the same time made many friendships that would last throughout her life.
Doris was a member of the Friends of NORCAP and was also an avid reader. She especially enjoyed spending time with her loving family and her many friends. She had lived in North Attleboro for the past 25 years and was formerly of Norton.
She is survived by her devoted daughters Anita M. Keenen and her husband Joseph of Norton, Debra C. Gagne of Attleboro and Melissa A. Gagne of North Attleboro. Her dear brother and sister George L. Cota, Jr. of Fort Pierce, Florida and Sandra Plante of Fall River. Also survived by her cherished grandchildren Edmund C. Gagne, Daniel E. Sousa, Megan E. Sousa and Joseph M. DeCotis as well as her many nieces and nephews.
Memorial visiting hours, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on both Sunday January 14th from 1-5 P.M. and Monday January 15th from 1-5 P.M. at the Norton V.F.W. Post 8049 on Summer St. in Norton.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Doris’s memory to the Friends of NORCAP P.O. Box 285 Foxboro, MA 02035.
