Obituary

George A. Jorgensen, 80, of New Bedford died October 10, 2002 at Blaire House of New Bedford unexpectedly.

He was the husband of Jacqueline (Terra) Jorgensen and son of the late Victor E. Jorgensen and Margaret (Rodman) Leek.

Mr. Jorgensen was born in Camden, NJ and lived there many years before moving to New Bedford in 1970.

He was formerly employed as a painting contractor for many years.

Mr. Jorgensen served in the US Army during World War II and was the recipient of the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Service Medal with 3 bronze stars, the World War II Victory Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, the Philippine Liberation Ribbon and the American Theater Service Medal.

He was a former mason.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Neil M. Jorgensen of New Bedford; 2 daughters, Sherri Manning and Judith Brownell, both of New Jersey; 2 step-daughters, Juanita Heieck of Colorado and Cheryl Barra of New Bedford; 4 sisters, Virginia Haessler of Pennsylvania, Myrtle Cummings of Florida, Lorraine Conway of California and Harriet Guida of New Jersey; 11 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

He was the father of the late David Jorgensen and Christine Jorgensen.

His Funeral Services will be private.
