LOWELL - James Nicholas Sarantakis, 71 a lifelong Lowell resident, died unexpectedly January 3rd at his home.
He was born in Lowell on January 1, 1936 and was a son of the late Paul Sarantakis and Ruth (Pinkerton) (Sarantakis) Teixeira of Lowell.
Prior to retiring, Mr. Sarantakis worked in construction for many years
In his free time he enjoyed attending and watching his favorite team the New England Patriots and spending time with his dog Pebbles.
His family remembers him as loving all types of animals.
In addition to his mother, he is survived three brothers William and his wife Lucy and Stephen and his wife Betty, all of New Port Richey, FL, and John and his wife Dianne of Naples, FL; four sisters Patricia Corcoran, and Arlene Dragoli and her husband Paul, all of Tyngsboro, Carol Deagan and her husband Dick of Lowell, and Donna Furtado and her husband Jim of Saugus; three sons, James Sarantakis and his wife Mary of Lowell, Thomas Sarantakis of Lowell, and Nicholas Sarantakis of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, two daughters Virginia Dion and her husband Paul of New Hampton, NH, and Jackie Garland of Plymouth, NH; and several grandchildren and many nieces, and nephews.
He was also the brother of the late Gerald Sarantakis, Elizabeth Straub, and Virginia Sarantakis.
Friends may call at the DRACUT FUNERAL HOME, 2159 Lakeview Avenue, DRACUT , on Sunday from 4 until 7pm, with his Funeral Service at 6:30pm in the funeral home. Cremation by Linwood Crematory, Haverhill. His burial will be held on Thursday at 1pm at the Westlawn Cemetery, Lowell.
