Obituary

FALL RIVER - Jose C. “Agulha” Rego, age 78, of 357 Whipple St., Fall River, died Friday in Fall River at St. Anne’s Hospital. He was the husband of Mariana (Medeiros) Rego and the beloved late Genoveva (Amaral) Rego. He is survived by 4 Sons: Jose M. Rego of California
Tony Rego of Fall River, Daniel M. Rego of Fall River, and Abel D. Rego of Cranston, RI; 9 Daughters: Maria Jose Oliveira of Fall River, Lucia Rego Dias of Fall River, Dorothy M. Amaral of Worcester, MA, Margarida M. Paiva of Fall River, Sara M. Moniz of Fall River, Escolastica M. Sousa of Fall River, Evonne E. Bento of Swansea, Genoveva A. Ledo of Somerset, Maria Fatima Rego of Assonet; 1 Step-Son: Jose F. Sousa of Fall River; 2 Step-Daughters: Donna Ramos of Fall River and Rosa Costa of Fall River; 1 Brother: Antonio Cabral of Fall River; 41 Grandchildren, 12 Great-grandchildren and Several Nieces and Nephews. He was the father of the late Genoveva Rego and Antonio Rego. He was the brother of the late Manuel M. Cabral and Georgina Paiva.

Born in Capelas, Sao Miguel, Azores, the son of the late Antone Cabral and the late Maria (Fernandes) Cabral. He was a Fall River resident since 1969. Prior to retiring, he had worked as a Maintenance Man for Joan Fabrics. He had previously worked as a Prominent Police Officer in Sao Miguel, Azores for 20 years. He was a member of Santo Christo Church, Affonso Republican Club, Fall River Sports Club, and the Academica Club.

His funeral will take place from the Manuel Rogers & Sons Funeral Home, 1521 No. Main St., Fall River, MA on Monday at 8:00 A.M., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Santo Christo Church, Columbia St. at 9:00 A.M. Interment in St. Patrick Cemetery Calling Hours: Sunday 5:00-9:00 P.M.
