Henry A. Goveia
...veteran, retired Teamster, local 25; age 83
TEWKSBURY - Henry A. Goveia, age 83, a retired member of Teamsters Local 25, died
Thursday evening, January 4, at Saints Memorial Medical Center in Lowell, following a long
period of declining health. He was the beloved husband of Mary D. (Campagna) Goveia.
He was born in Lowell, on January 17, 1923, a son of the late John and Della (Picanso) Goveia.
He was raised in Somerville, but lived the greater part of his life in Tewksbury. He moved to
Lowell in 1995.
During WWII, he served in the U.S. Army.
Before retiring, he worked as a driver for the B.N. Corkum Trucking Company in Wilmington,
and was a member of AFL-CIO Teamsters Local 25.
He was a former member of both the Billerica and Lowell Elks.
Besides his wife, he is survived by seven children, Carol Collins and her husband Steve of Groton,
Irene Basett and her husband David of No. Billerica, Diane Hinckley and her husband Paul of No.
Reading, June Day and her husband Rod of Bangor, ME, John Goveia and his wife Alma of Bell
Vernon, PA, Kevin Goveia and his wife Dina of Naples, FL, and Henry A. Goveia Jr. of TX; four
step-children, Albert Riccio and his wife Cynthia of Westford, Stephen Riccio and his wife Jean of
Tewksbury, Robert Riccio and his wife Victoria of Wilmington, Christine Kaizer and her husband
Russell of Tewksbury; a brother John R. Goveia of Orlando, FL; a sister, Irene Yore of New
Mexico; and numerous grand children and great grandchildren.
He was also step-father of the late Joseph Riccio.
His
Funeral Mass was celebrated Monday, January 8, in St. William’s Church, Tewksbury. Burial with Army Honors followed at Tewksbury Cemetery. Memorials to the Saints Medical Center, Cancer Center, 1 Hospital Dr., Lowell, MA 01852 will be appreciated.
