Obituary

DRACUT-Roger J. Marcotte, 86 a longtime Dracut resident, died Tuesday, January 2nd in Saints Medical Center after an illness. He was the beloved husband of Diane M. (Woodward) Marcotte with whom he was married for 22 years.

He was born on June 16, 1920 in Lowell a son of the late Herve and the late Regina (Archambault) Marcotte. Mr. Marcotte was a United States Navy veteran serving in World War II as as a Gunners Mate in the Armed Guard.

Mr. Marcotte worked for the Catholic Conservation Corps in 1938 for 2 and a half years. Later he was employed by Fort Devons as a stationary fireman. Mr. Marcotte then was employed by Raytheon where he worked as a stationary fireman for many years until retiring in 1991.

He was a member of the VFW Bedford Post, the American Legion in Tyngsboro and the Veterans of St. Louis. He was a generous donator to the Fernald School for children in Waltham.

In his spare time he enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family.

In addition to his wife he is survived by six sons, Jude Marcotte and his wife Linda of Gardner, Paul Marcotte and his wife Diane of Texas, David Marcotte and his wife Annie of Lowell, Daniel Marcotte of Lowell, Richard Marcotte and his wife Carla of Tewksbury, Michael Marcotte and his wife Jeannine of Tyngsboro; five daughters, Marie Arel and her husband Leon of Portsmouth, ME, Ann Marcotte of Pennsylvania, Denise Silva of Haverhill, Debra Eberflus of Lowell and Cynthia Villagas and her husband Angel of Lowell; two sisters, Yvonne Bozek of Lowell and Pauline Marcotte of North Reading; twenty-five grandchildren; many great grandchildren; many nephews and nieces.

He was also the brother of the late Raymond Marcotte and the late Gabrielle Marcotte, and the grandfather of four deceased grandchildren.

Friends may call at the DRACUT FUNERAL HOME, 2159 Lakeview Avenue, DRACUT on Friday from 12:45 until 1:45 PM, followed by his funeral service at 2:30 PM in St. Joseph Chapel, Chelmsford. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Perkins School for the Blind, 175 North Beacon Street, Watertown, MA 02472.
