Edith "Hazel" Harvey Greene, 95, of Tifton, died Thursday, January 4, 2007, at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 6, 2007, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Rev. Glenn Martin will officiate with burial to follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery. Nephews will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Friday, January 5, 2007, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Ms. Greene was born on December 30, 1911 in Washington County, Florida and was the daughter of William I. Harvey and Willie Rogers Harvey, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Ronald Greene, who died in 1958; one infant daughter; two brothers, William Harvey and George R. "Pete" Harvey; and six sisters, Ella Mae Brinson, Nannie Sellars, Marguerite Coleman, Vertie Ivey, Mildred Harrison and Willette Holmes. She retired in 1976 as a credit representative from Burden-Smith and Company in Macon. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Tifton, where she was also a member of the Christian Sunday School Class and Club 55. She had lived most of her life in Tifton and Macon.
Ms. Greene is survived by one daughter, Mary Jo Greene of Tifton; two sisters-in-law, Eleanor Harvey of Tifton and Mary Yarborough of Tucker; and several nieces and nephews.
