Joanne (Riley) Stokinger, 71, died Wednesday at the Brockton Hospital, after a period of failing health. She was the wife Paul F.Stokinger, Sr. of Whitman
Born in Boston, brought up in Quincy, daughter of the late Daniel and Margaret (Countie) Riley
Mrs. Stokinger was a 1952 graduate of North Quincy High School and has been a resident of Whitman for 40 years , where she was active in many activities at the Holy Ghost Church, including the Cunniff Pine Street Inn Food Group, the Blessed Virgin Mary Sodality and the CCD program, for which she taught for over thirty years.
She enjoyed her home and bringing up her ten children and being a grandmother of sixteen
She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Paul F. Stokinger, Sr.; her ten children .Paul, Jr., Peter, Philip, Gerald, Daniel, John, Robert, Rita, Ellen Stokinger, and Marianne DiCicco; her brothers Gregory, Joseph and Daniel Riley and her sister Judith Lyons.
Her Funeral will be held Monday January 8th at 9:15 A.M. from the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Route 58 at the Rotary Circle) Whitman, followed by a funeral mass at 10:00 A.M. in the Holy Ghost Church, School Street Whitman Burial will follow in the St. James Cemetery, Whitman, MA Visiting hours Sunday January 7th 2-4 and 7-9..
