SPENCER-Roy C. Brooks, 73 of 12B Howe Village formerly of 44 Lakeside Avenue, Worcester died Wednesday, October 9th in The Life Care Center of Auburn after an illness. He leaves his wife of 51 years, Pauline C. (Blanchard) Brooks; a son, Brian R. Brooks of Derry, NH; 6 daughters, Ruth A. McCumber and Avis M. Wade both of Worcester, June E. Sulminski and Deborah L. Brooks both of Auburn, Donna J. Burns of East Boston, Melanie T. Mathews of Douglas; 3 brothers, Roger M. Brooks of Fredericksburg, VA, John H. Brooks of Worcester, George Brooks of, CT; a sister, Beverly Brooks of Worcester; 12 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter and several nieces and nephews.
He was born in Clinton son of Roy E. and Ruth (Collins) Brooks and lived in Worcester for many years before moving to Spencer. He served in the U.S. Army from 1951 until 1953 and in the Army National Guard from 1953 until 1956. Mr. Brooks was a paper cutter at Paul Revere Insurance Company for many years retiring in 1992. He previously worked at Weatherbee Company and the former Metro Bowling Alley. He was a member at the Chester P. Tuttle American Legion Post 279 in Auburn. He was an avid bowler.
The funeral will be held Saturday, October 12th at 10:00 AM in the First Baptist Church of North Oxford, 693 Main Street. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours will be Friday, October 11th in O’Connor Brothers Funeral Home, 592 Park Avenue, Worcester from 5:00 until 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association, 1 Abbey Lane, Middleboro, MA 02346.
