Charlton -Lester V. “Butch” Stanley, 92 of 283 Partridge Hill Rd passed away Wednesday morning, January 3, 2007 at St. Vincent’s Hospital, after a brief illness.
Lester is survived by his devoted and caring wife and partner of 59 years, Hazel (Beauregard) Stanley; his son Robert Lester Stanley and wife Kathleen (Sweeney) Stanley, and two grandchildren, Leah and Cole Stanley, all of Charlton; one remaining cousin Mildred (Eames) Scott of Uxbridge; sister and brother-in-law, Roberta and Francis Desrosiers of Paxton; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister Mildred Stanley.
Lester was born in Paxton, raised the son of Carrie (Eames) Stanley Boucher and Napoleon Boucher. He served in the United States Navy during World War II in the Pacific. He was a carpenter all his life and worked for Fiske Carter, Holy Cross and Builders Systems for many years. He served as past Master and Secretary of the Charlton Grange and was a member for over 50 years. He was a member of American Legion Post #391 for over 50 years, and past member of The Worcester County Beekeeping Association. He also loved to travel and was a member of the Spencer AARP. He enjoyed gardening, yard work and beekeeping along with cabinet making and spending time with family.
Per his request there will be no calling hours and the funeral will be private. Arrangements are being made by Alfred Roy and Sons Funeral Home 12 Hammond Street, Worcester. The family requests in lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Charlton Fire Department, PO Box 114, Charlton City, 01508, or to the charity of your choice.
