Falmouth - Ann Carr Brown 87, loving wife to Stewart C. Brown for 57 years, passed on Sunday December 31, 2006 at JML Care Center after a bought of pneumonia. To her new best friends that she left there she thanks you. Ann was born on December 19, 1919 in Brockton to Eugene Brady Carr and Etta Fortier Carr. She was raised in Brockton with her 5 brothers and sisters, Jean, Paul and George Carr, Kathleen Carr Fallon and Barbara Carr Hickey all of whom have passed. Ann was raised in Brockton and attended Brockton Schools. After high school she experienced life a bit with travels to California and Florida by train and working at various jobs to enable her traveling desires and experiences. Ann pursued her teaching certificate at college and opened her own kindergarten as well as attending National Cash Register School where she was certified and worked repairing cash registers. Ann married Stewart C. Brown of Brockton, and became the daughter in law to Earle Clement and Davina Gowans Brown also of Brockton; 3 years after his return from the Army Air Corps., at her family home in Brockton on June 25, 1949. They bought property in Bridgewater a built a small cabin to live in while they were designing and building their future family home. Ann was an intricate part of the designing of the home that became a legacy in its own. This is where she raised her three children, Pamela Ann Brown, Cynthia Carr Brown and the late David Gowans Brown. Her children and their upbringing were her priority.
Ann was very active in the communities of Bridgewater and Brockton. She was intricate in running the Players Theatre in Bridgewater where there would be movies, talent shows and productions. She was an intricate member of the Commercial Club of Brockton, The Brockton Hospital Guild, The Guild Gaities, and the Brockton Country Club.
Her home in Bridgewater was the site of many fund raisers, galas and family gatherings. She was an entertainer in all senses of the word. She could belt out a tune and play the part. She could entertain groups of 100 with all the frills. She had a love for golf and she loved her animals. Her home life was always her priority for her family. Ann loved life.
In 1985 Ann and Stew made Falmouth their home for retirement, where she spent the rest of her years. She became "Nana" to Dustin Gowans Brown in August of 1991 and with that her retirement was fulfilled.
