Nicholas Cuozzi, a life long Woburn resident died Tuesday at the Woburn Nursing Center after a brief illness. He was 91. Mr. Cuozzi was born in Boston, the son of the late Nicholas and the late Pauline (Arpino) Cuozzi. A graduate of the Woburn public schools, Mr. Cuozzi was a skilled stone mason. For 25 years he worked in maintenance at the Bedford and Andover facilities of the Raytheon Co. He retired in 1976.
Mr. Cuozzi served with the fourth division of United States Marine Corps during the Second World War
Mr. Cuozzi was a longtime member of racing pigeon clubs on the north shore. His world renown pigeons won many races. At one time, Nick was the leading pigeon racer in New England.
Mr. Cuozzi is the beloved husband of the late Elizabeth (Occhinto). He is survived by five children, Nicholas Cuozzi, Jr. of Chatham, Ronald Cuozzi of Woburn, Mary Jane Arigo of Arlington, Lorraine Higgins of Huntington Beach, CA, Patricia Cuozzi of Quincy and is preceded in death by a son, the late Richard Cuozzi. Also survived by 14 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. Brother of Lena Leone of Wayland and the late Margaret Occhinto, Mary Sampson, Dominick Addario and Frances Rantano. Funeral from the McLaughlin – Dello Russo Funeral Home 60 Pleasant St. WOBURN Friday at 8 AM. Followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Charles Church, 280 Main St. Woburn at 9 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours thurday 4 thru 8. Services will conclude with burial at Calvary Cemetery, Woburn.
