Emily (Marchant) Lowe died on Sat Dec. 30, 2006 at Brooksby Village in Peabody, MA. Mrs. Lowe was born on Dec 24, 1920 in West Hartford Ct. She attended the Univ. of the Philippines in 1938-1939 and was graduated from Hood College in Frederick, MD in 1942. She worked in personnel for Pratt & Whitney Co. during World War II and for other companies after the war. She worked for the reference librarian at the Clapp Library at Wellesley College from 1973 to 1991. She and her husband John Adams Lowe Jr. were married on Feb. 3, 1951. They lived in Newington, CT and Needham, MA before retiring to Brooksby Village in Peabody, MA in 2005. Mrs. Lowe’s parents George and Emily Marchant, her brother Raymond Marchant, and her sister Mary Marchant Campbell predeceased her. She is survived by her husband, her children John Adams Lowe III of Stonington CT, Emily Hall and her husband Stephen of Lockport NY, and Russell Lowe and his wife Pamela of Acton and her grandchildren Christopher, and Amy Lowe and Brian, Peter, and David Lowe. Mrs. Lowe devoted her life to raising her family and working in the community, especially for the Congregational Church in Newington and Needham. Her love of history made her an invaluable member of the staff at the Wellesley College library, and enriched the lives of all those who knew her. A memorial service will be held on Thurs Jan 4, 2007 at 10 AM in the Brooksby Village Chapel 300 Brooksby Village Dr. Peabody. Visiting hours will be in the Eaton Funeral Home 1351 Highland Ave Needham on Wed from 4-7 PM.
