Arnold S. Freeman, 94, of Taunton died on Friday December 29, 2006 at the Epoch Senior Health Care Center in Norton. He was the husband of the late Helen Freeman and was the former husband of the late Bernice Freeman-Barnett.
Born in Taunton, MA on February 19, 1912 he was a son of the late Carlos D. and Ida (Short) Freeman.
He grew up in Taunton and was a 1930 graduate of Taunton High School. He had also attended the former Durfee Textile School in Fall River. Mr. Freeman had served in The United States National Guard from 1935- 1938. He was a retired Supervisor having worked at the former Defiance Bleachery in Barrowsville for 40 years before retiring in 1976.
He was a member of the Unitarian Church in Norton. When he was younger he had played semi- pro football for the Boys Club in Taunton. His hobbies included reading, crafts, gardening, crossword puzzles, traveling and playing cards. He had lived in Taunton for over 30 years and was a former resident of Norton and North Attleboro.
He is survived by his children Bette L. Richmond of Norton, David A. Freeman and his wife Gail of Norton and David Walton and his wife Mariann of West Paris, Maine. He was the brother of the late Bettina Miller. Also surviving is his nephew Richard F. Miller of California and his 9 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 10 great -great grandchildren.
Graveside services, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Tuesday January 9th at 11:00 A.M. at the Norton Common Cemetery, West Main St. Norton.
