Obituary

Thomas J. Cunningham, 85, of Littleton, NH, died Friday, December 29, 2006 in the Pleasant Valley Nursing Center in Derry, NH. Mr. Cunningham was born in West Roxbury, MA on January 26, 1921, a son of the late Francis A. and Rose A. (Branley) Cunningham. He was a resident of Littleton for the past four years, formerly living in Lisbon, NH for 32 years. Mr. Cunningham was a US Navy veteran for 11 years, serving as a Chief Petty Officer during WWII. He was also a Merchant Marine for several years during the Korean and Vietnam wars. Mr. Cunningham retired as a Captain from Keystone Shipping Co. Between his Naval service and his career with Keystone, he was at sea for 50 years. Mr. Cunningham was very handy and built his own log cabin. He enjoyed working on his house and he loved the North Country.
He is survived by his sister, Sr. Theresa Cunningham, SND, of Watertown, MA; four brothers, William A. Cunningham of Lexington, MA, Phillip J. Cunningham and wife Patsy of Ft. Smith, AR, Msgr. Richard G. Cunningham of Boston, MA, and Edmund P. Cunningham of N. Adams, MA; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by Francis A. Cunningham Jr., Dorothy Curtis, and John P. Cunningham.
There are no calling hours. Following cremation, burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery in W. Roxbury, MA at a later date. The Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry is handling the arrangements.
