Grafton—Susan Jeanette "Angel" Hayes, the first baby born in Worcester after VJDay, Victory over Japan, passed away on December 28, 2006 at St. Vincent Hospital, Worcester. She graduated from Salter Secretarial School with high honors in 1965. She was a self-employed court reporter for over thirty years for Apex Reporting in Boston, MA.
Susan was predeceased by her husband Frank J. “Sandman” Hayes on August 11, 2006. She was the daughter of the late Hildegarde and James McKenzie. She is survived by her 3 daughters, Kimberly A. Hayes of Leicester, Lisa J. Gallo and her husband Anthony of Millbury, and Jodi P. Hayes of N. Grafton; 3 grandsons, Nicholas, Deven and Matthew and 1 granddaughter, Dezerae; her brother Bradley J. McKenzie and sister Judith A. McKenzie; several cousins, nieces and nephews, and her dogs Shelby and MJ.
A memorial service will be held at Wesley United Methodist Church Chapel, 114 Main Street, Worcester, MA on Wednesday, January 3, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. followed by a graveside service at Pine Grove Cemetery in Grafton, MA. Contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to The National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Central New England Chapter, 101A First Avenue, Waltham, MA 02451.
