Emile W. Forcier, 90, of Papineau Ave., Woonsocket, died Friday at Mt. St. Francis Home. He was the husband of 65 years to Rita M. (Morin) Forcier.
Born in Woonsocket, he was a son of the late Wilfrid and Alida (Berard) Forcier. He was a lifelong resident of the city.
Mr. Forcier served in the U.S Army Air Corps during WWII. He served in the European-African-Middle Eastern Theater and was discharged with the rank of Staff Sergeant. He received the Good Conduct Medal, American Theater Campaign Ribbon, and the Victory Medal.
Mr. Forcier worked at the Lafayette Mills, the French Worsted, International Fabrics, and the Verdun Co. for many years before retiring.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Raymond Forcier, of Harrisville, Roland Forcier, of Rehoboth, MA, and Normand Forcier, of Perry, Maine, a daughter, Doris Carriere, of Cumberland, a brother, Julien Forcier, of CA, three sisters, Lucienne Forcier, and Gabrielle Joly, both of CA., and Annette Garneau, of Virginia. He was the brother of the late Normand Forcier and Irene Lafleur. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was the grandfather of the late Steven Carriere.
His funeral will be Wednesday at 9:00 am from the Fournier & Fournier Funeral Home, 99 Cumberland St., Woonsocket, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in All Saints Church, Rathbun St., Woonsocket. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Jean Baptiste Cemetery, Wrentham Rd., Bellingham. Visiting hours are Tuesday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm.
