Jeffrey J. Lopes, 57, of New Bedford died October 2, 2002. Born in Acushnet, son of Beverly (Jennings) Lopes and the late John Lopes, he had lived in New Bedford for most of his life.
Mr. Lopes was the co-owner of the Stadium Cafe for many years and more recently was the co-owner of the New Bedford Municipal Golf Course.
He was a life-long member of the Panthers Athletic Club, and in his youth had attended the Ted Williams Baseball Camp.An avid golfer, Mr. Lopes was well known as the founder and sponsor of the annual Chivas Regal Golf Tournament held at the New Bedford Municipal Golf Course.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy Lopes, and his loving family.
A private Funeral Service was held on Monday morning, October 7th in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park Street, New Bedford. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the United Way of Greater New Bedford, P.O. Box 7823, New Bedford, MA 02742.
