Obituary

Raymond Abbott Hitchcock,86, passed away peacefully at his home at
41 Irish Lane in Rutland on Tuesday, Dec. 26.
His wife of 56 years, Colleen S. (Vigue) Hitchcock, died in 2000.
He leaves his beloved son Peter S. Hitchcock and his caring wife Joyce of
Rutland with whom he lived, and his joyful 6 year old grand daughter Rachel
C. Hitchcock who affectionately called him "Dadda", his wife's relatives in
Maine, and his daughter in law's relatives in Worcester.
Mr. Hitchcock was a mechanical adjuster at Worcester Envelope where he
worked for 10 years, retiring in 1985. Previously, he worked at U.S.
Envelope in Worcester for 32 years.
He graduated from Worcester Boys Trade School in 1940 and served his country
during WWII, with the Navy "Seabees". He was a member of the Lakeview
Congregational Church in Worcester and attended regularly with his grand
daughter.
Raymond enjoyed boating, fishing, yardwork and spending time with his grand
daughter Rachel. He attended the lunch program at the Rutland Senior Center
daily. A special treat was the hospitality offered at his daughter in law's
parent's home, George and Antoinette Arraj, Sr. of Worcester.
Born in Worcester he was the son of Charles E. and Laura P. (Abbott)
Hitchcock.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, Dec. 30 at 10 a.m. in Lakeview
Congregational Church, 115 Coburn Ave., Worcester. Burial will follow in
Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. There are no calling hours. In lieu
of flowers, contributions may be made to Lakeview Congregational Church, 115
Coburn Ave., Worcester 01604.
