Lillian C. (DeNapoli) Scannell, of Medford, formerly of Somerville, died Tuesday at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital, after a long illness. She was 73.
Born and raised in Somerville, she was the daughter of the late Severo and the late Catherine (Spina) DeNapoli. A dedicated wife and mother, Lillian worked many years for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts in the Division of Banking. Lillian lived most of her life in Somerville until moving to Medford eight years ago after the death of her husband.
She was the beloved wife of the late Richard J. Scannell. She was a devoted mother to Paula Scannell and her partner Donna Rich of Apex, NC, Richard J. Scannell and his wife Sandra of Franklin and Maureen Cunningham and her husaband Francis of Reading. She was a loving grandmother to Stephen Paul, Katherine Mary, Elizabeth Margaret and Jacob Alexander. She was a dear sister to Elena Conley and Ann Marie Marcotti.
Her Funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford Friday at 8 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 118 High Street, Medford, at 9 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Services will conclude with burial at Mass. National Cemetery, Bourne. Family and friends may visit Thursday, 4 thru 8pm.
