Obituary

Bridgewater- Frederick W. Brown Jr., 89, of Bridgewater, died Sunday, Dec. 24, 2006, in Brockton after a long illness. He was the beloved husband of Catherine E. (Moriarty) Brown.

Born Aug. 5, 1917, in Nashua, NH, he was the son of the late Frederick W. and Marion (Ripley) Brown. He returned to Bridgewater as an infant with his parents, who were both born in Bridgewater, and remained a lifelong resident of Bridgewater.

Mr. Brown retired from the U.S. Post Office, where he worked for 27 years.

Later, he worked summers on a lobster boat for W.P.L.M. radio.

A U.S. Marine veteran, Mr. Brown served during World War II and the Korean War and was a Master Sgt. He was a member of the 4th Marine Division in the Pacific, then the 2nd Marine Division performing state side duty. He also served at Iwo Jima.

He was a member of the Bridgewater Vet’s Club, DAV and Bridgewater Beagle Club.

Mr. Brown enjoyed hunting trips to Maine and gardening.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Cathy Paciorkowski and her husband Ernest of Norwood and Sally Brown and her husband Jeffrey Ten Pas of Winters, CA.; and two granddaughters, Katie and Sarah Paciorkowski of Norwood. He was brother of the late Kenneth Brown, Roger Brown, Priscilla Davis, Marion Duggan and Marjorie Luken.

Visiting hours in the Prophett Funeral Home, 98 Bedford St. (Rte. 18), Bridgewater, Thursday 3-7 pm. Funeral service and burial will be private.
