Elvin F. Ritter 66, of Franklin, died Monday December 25, 2006 at the Milford Regional Medical Center following a long illness.
Born July 7, 1940 in Carthidge, North Carolina a son of the late John D. and Nellie (Bennett) Ritter he had lived in Franklin for the past 5 years.
Mr. Ritter was raised and educated in North Carolina and came to Massachusetts in the early1960’s and settled in the Dorchester section of Boston and lived there for many years before moving to Bellingham and then to Franklin.
Mr. Ritter worked as a metal extruder at the former Metalonics Company in South Boston for over 25 years before illness forced him to retire.
Mr. Ritter’s interests included all sports, working on automobiles, the outdoors and fishing he also enjoyed spending time with his family.
He is survived by 2 sons Glen R. Gomes of Hyde Park and Greg E. Gomes of Revere, 2 daughters Robin R. Stephenson of Virginia and Debra E. Hargrove of Webster, a brother John W. Ritter of Franklin and a sister Hazel L. Davis of Bellingham. Also surviving are 8 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
He was the brother of the late Lethia Chandler.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral on Friday December 29, 2006 at 10:15AM from the Charles F. Oteri and Son Franklin Funeral Home 33 Cottage St. followed by a funeral service at the First Baptist Church of Bellingham at the intersection of Rt. 140 and Rt. 126 Bellingham Center at 11AM. Pastor Michael Hann will officiate. Burial will follow in Union Street Cemetery, Franklin.
