CHARLTON - Henry S. (Pokropowicz) Marc, 80, formerly of 60 Hill St., Auburn, and the Masonic Home, Charlton, passed away on Saturday, December 23rd in St.Vincent's Hospital at Worcester Medical Center. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Elizabeth P. (Samborski) Marc. He leaves three sons, Henry S.Marc of Oxford, David T.Marc of Barre and John H. Marc of Ft. Walton Beach, FL; two daughters, Susan Cammuso of Millbury, and Elizabeth Ducharme; eight grandchildren and nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by four brothers, (all World War II Veterans) and one sister.
Henry was born in Worcester, son of Stanley and Loretta (Chelinski) Pokropowicz.
He graduated from St. Mary's Elementary and High School and received his teaching certification in Machine Shop through the State Department of Education, Fitchburg State College and Worcester Technical School.
Mr. Marc was CEO, President of Premcor, Inc., a machine tool and metal stamping company. He was a member of the US Navy during World War II serving in the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre of Operations aboard the USS Swenning, DE394, (Destroyer Escort) as a Motor Machinist, 3rd Class. Henry was a life member of the Sampson WWII Navy Veterans, Inc. of Geneva NY and the Polish American Veterans of World War II of Worcester, MA. He was a Master Mason. He was a member of Joel Prouty Lodge, Auburn, MA, a 32nd Degree mason in the Scottish Rite, and a member of the Melha Shriner's of Springfield, MA. He was a member of Our Lady of Czestochowa Church and the St. Mary's Booster's Club in Worcester. He loved gardening and his flowers and was an accomplished painter in various mediums including glass, wood, oil and ceramics.
Burial will be private. A public memorial service, in celebration of his life, will be held on Wednesday, December 27th at 1:00 pm in the Chapel at the Masonic Home, 88 Masonic Home Rd., Charlton, MA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made, in his name to the Resident’s Activity Fund, c/o Masonic Home, 88 Masonic Home Rd., Charlton, MA 01507.
