SALEM - Casimere “Cassie” (Polchlopek) Sylvanowicz, 90, wife of the late Benjamin Sylvanowicz, formerly of Salem, died Saturday, December 24, 2006 at the Masconomet Health Care Center, Topsfield, following a long illness.
Born in Manchester, New Hampshire and raised in Salem, MA, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Carolina (Wegrzyniak) Polchlopek.
Prior to her retirement in 1966, Cassie was employed for many years as a fancy stitcher in the shoe manufacturing industry.
A resident of Salem for most of her life, Mrs. Sylvanowicz was a longtime active parishioner of the St. John The Baptist Church, Salem, where she worked on the bingo committee and volunteered on various church events. She was a member of the Polish Falcons of America, Nest #188, Salem.
She is survived by one son & daughter-in-law, Benjamin E. & Bethmarie Sylvanowicz of Georgetown, proprietors of Main Street Mini-Mart - D. J. Liquors in Byfield, 3 grandchildren and their spouses, David E. & Kathy Sylvanowicz of Byfield, Aaron S. & Kerry Sylvanowicz of Groveland, Jason C. & Mary Sylvanowicz of Waltham, 4 great grandchildren, Adam & Zoe Sylvanowicz of Byfield, Annabelle, and Courtney Sylvanowicz of Groveland, one brother & sister-in-law, Edmund & Celia Polchlopek of Salem and several nieces and nephews.
Her funeral service will be held Friday, December 29, 2006 at 9 am from the Full-Spychalski Funeral Home, 84 Washington Square East, by Salem Common, Salem, followed by a funeral Mass at 10 am at the St. John The Baptist Church, Salem. Visiting hours are Thursday, 4 to 8 pm. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. Burial is in St. Mary Cemetery, Salem.
