Veronica Reid, beloved mother of Jean Reid Bailey (Earle) of Fairfield, Connecticut, and Marion Aldrich Reid (Philip) of Dewitt, New York, left this life on December 24th at University Hospital in Syracuse, New York, at the age of 96.
Born in Poland in 1910, Veronica immigrated to Boston, Massachusetts, in 1912 with her parents and siblings, where she grew up and met her husband of 58 years, Lt. Colonel Eugene G. Reid, USMC, who predeceased her in 1988. Her Parents, Michael and Anelia, and her siblings, Michael, Genevive, and Jeremiah have also predeceased her.
For the major part of her life she kept the “home fires burning” for her husband and family in Medford, Massachusetts, where she was for many years a member of the West Medford Baptist Church and held office in the Women’s Federation. In 1998 when her health required being nearer family members, she moved to New York State.
She leaves to rejoice in her life her daughters and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours were in the Beale-Geake-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 29 Governors Avenue, Medford, from 7 to 9 pm Friday, December 29, 2006. Her Funeral Service was held on Saturday, December 30, 2006, in the Funeral Home at 11 a.m.
followed by interment in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park in West Peabody..
