Obituary

Edward Schibbelhute, Sr., BMC, USN, Ret., 85 of Derry, NH died December 22, 2006 in the Catholic Medical Center, Manchester, NH surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Schibbelhute was born in Gage, OK on July 24, 1921 a son of the late Fred and Anna (Lipp) Schibbelhute. He attended schools in Gage, OK. He was a 20 year retired US Navy veteran having served during WWII. He had resided in Derry for the past 45 years. He retired in 1986 from Centorr Associates in Suncook, NH where he worked for 20 years. He was a member of the Salem VFW, The American Legion, Lester Chase Post #9 in Derry and the Fleet Reserve Association, MAL (Member at Large). He was an avid gardener and enjoyed working in construction with his sons following his retirement.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Barbara A. (Ballou) Schibbelhute of Derry, four sons, John Schibbelhute and his wife Joan of Pepperell, MA, Paul Schibbelhute of Nashua, NH, Edward Schibbelhute, Jr. of Deerfield, NH, Peter Schibbelhute and his wife Doreen of Deerfield, four grandchildren, PFC Kristen Stephan, USMC and her husband, Brandon, USMC of 29 Palms, CA, Alexandra Schibbelhute, Peter Schibbelhute both of Deerfield, Joshua Wrightson of Charleston, SC, six step grandchildren, Frank Hoffman, Brian Hoffman, Shawn Hoffman, Stephanie Vallee, Jonathan St. Pierre, Sean St. Pierre, two brothers, Leland Schibbelhute of Gage, OK, Melvin Schibbelhute of Edmond, OK, two sisters, Lula M. Mathews of Woodward, OK, Betty Swallow of Ft. Supply, OK, many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his infant twin daughters, Marianne and Virginia in 1958. He was also predeceased by six brothers, Fritz, Sam, Victor, Harvey, Leroy and George and two sisters, Rosie Swenn and Gladys Blackwell.
Calling hours were held Friday from 5 – 8pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 290 Mammoth Rd., Londonderry. A mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Saturday December 30th at 10:00am in the St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 26 Crystal Ave., Derry. Burial followed in Forest Hill Cemetery, E. Derry.
