Sarah (Snow) Gilman, a lifelong resident of Revere, died peacefully on December 22, 2006 in the Chelsea Jewish Nursing Home. She was 95 years old.
Born in Revere, the daughter of the late Morris & Bertha (Taitz) Snow, Sarah was educated in the Revere Public Schools, graduating from Revere High School in 1929. She was the former owner of Sarah’s Variety in Revere during the 1950’s & 60’s. After closing her store, Sarah went to work for the Registry of Motor Vehicles as a clerk. She retired from the RMV in the 1970’s. Sarah was a member of Temple B’Nai Israel of Beachmont, a life member of the Chelsea Jewish Nursing Home, & a member of B’Nai Brith. She enjoyed crocheting, needlepoint, reading, and ceramics.
Wife of the late Hyman Gilman, Sarah is survived by her children, Steven & Arlene Gilman of Framingham, Terri & Rabbi David Kaplan of Wilmington, DE, & Michael & Jan Gilman of Groveland; & her grandchildren, Eve, Ari, & Scott Kaplan, Matthew & Aaron Gilman. She was the sister of the late Frances Worters, Ida Shulman, Harry, Joseph, Benjamin, & Max Snow.
Funeral services will be held in the Torf Funeral Chapel, 151 Washington Ave. (Cary Sq) CHELSEA on Tuesday, December 26, 2006 at 3:00 PM. Burial will follow in the Montifiore Cemetery, Fuller St. Everett. Memorial observance will be private.
