SALEM - Mary “June” Lynch, a lifelong resident of Salem, died Friday, December 22, 2006 at the age of 90, surrounded by her family. She was the wife of the late James J. Lynch who died in 1990 after 41 years of marriage. Mrs. Lynch was the daughter of the late John and Annie (Gannon) Pope of Salem.
A 1934 graduate of Salem High School and a graduate of the former A.A. Lowe Business School in Salem, she held various secretarial positions that included employment at Russcraft Cards in Boston, the A.C. Lawrence Leather Co. in Peabody, the General Electric Co. in Lynn, and Monarch Beef in Salem. During World War II, she volunteered in the Civilian Defense Corps. She was also a lifelong parishioner of St. James Church.
However, Mrs. Lynch’s top priority was always her family. She was primarily a stay-at-home mother for her three children.
She leaves a son and daughter-in-law, James and Robin (Perry) Lynch, a daughter and son-in-law, Marianne and John Linehan of North Andover, formerly of Merrimac, a daughter Julie Lynch of Salem and with whom she shared her home; and five grandchildren, James Lynch, Perry Lynch who is serving in the Air Force, Thomas Lynch, David Linehan, of N. Andover and Brian Linehan a student at Suffolk University, of Brighton. She also leaves several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Marjorie Pope and John Pope.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 28, 2006 at 9 am from the Full-Spychalski Funeral Home, 84 Washington Square East, by Salem Common, followed by a funeral Mass at 10 am in the chapel of St. James Church, Salem. Visiting hours are Wednesday, 5 to 8 pm. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. Burial is in St. Mary Cemetery, Salem.
