Obituary

Vahan Santoian, 84, died Wednesday, December 19, 2006, at UMass Memorial Healthcare, University Campus. He leaves a brother, Zaven H. Santoian and his wife Joyce of West Boylston; a close friend and caretaker, Joan H. Cicio, of Worcester; two nieces, Deborah J. Bostrom of Mora, MN and Patricia L. Johnson of E. Dennis; a nephew, Kevin P. Santoian of Newton; one grandniece; six grandnephews; and his companion and best friend, Sammie, his cocker spaniel.

He was born in Worcester, son of Mr. and Mrs. Haigaz Santoian. He was a Navy veteran of 12 years, serving in WWII and the Korean Conflict. Vahan was a photo engraver with the San Francisco Chronicle, retiring in 1985. He was a member of the Armenian Church of Our Saviour, the Men’s Club of the church, the AVAKS, the Northborough VFW, and the Graphic Arts Assn.

Funeral services will be held at Armenian Church of Our Saviour, 87 Salisbury St., Worcester, Friday, 12/22, at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery. Calling hours will be held at NORDGREN MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 300 Lincoln St., Worcester on Thursday, 12/21, from 5-8 p.m. A Dahngark Service will be held during calling hours.
