John J. Dunn, a 44 year resident of Wilmington formerly of Charlestown, died unexpectedly at his home in Wilmington. He was 73 years old.
John was born in Boston on March 26, 1933. He grew up in Charlestown where he attended Boston Public Schools and graduated from Charlestown High School. John worked at Polaroid Corporation for over 43 years and retired as a Production Manager. He was a member of the Wilmington Council Knights of Columbus, Charlestown Old School Boys Association and W-1 Cement Heads.
John is the beloved husband of Ann M. “Maureen” (Barry) Dunn. He is the devoted father of Thomas F. Dunn and his wife Jill of Dracut & John B. Dunn and his wife Mary-Ellen of Wilmington. John is the loving grandfather of Keith, Kelly, Connor, Kia and Kaleigh. He is the beloved brother of Catherine “Kay” Gillis of Wilmington and the late Mary Kelly and Helen Lyons. John is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
John’s Funeral will take place at the W.S. Cavanaugh & Son Funeral Home, 374 Main Street (Rte. 38) Wilmington, on Friday, December 22, at 9:30 a.m. followed by his Funeral Mass in St. Thomas of Villanova Church, 126 Middlesex Avenue, Wilmington, at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Wildwood Cemetery in Wilmington. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting Hours for John will be held on Thursday, December 21, 2006, from 4 to 8 p.m.
