WEBSTER – Gladys T. (Gontowski) Borowski, 89, of Oakwood Rehab & Nursing Center, formerly of 9 Greystone Ave., died Tuesday, Dec. 19, in Hubbard Regional Hospital. Her husband of 52 years, Joseph F. Borowski, died in 1988.
She leaves 4 children, Patricia M. Betley, twins Joseph A. Borowski and his wife Charlotte and Joanne M. Houle and her husband Lionel, all of Webster, and David Borowski and his wife Nora of Fabyan, CT; a twin brother, Walter “Bill” Gontowski of Webster; 7 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother Stanley and her sisters Helen, Harriet and Josephine.
She was born in Webster, a daughter of Frank and Pauline (Taraskiewicz) Gontowski, and lived here all her life.
Mrs. Borowski was a homemaker.
She was a lifelong member of St. Joseph Basilica, and a member of its Holy Rosary Sodality, Sacred Heart Society and St. Anne Society. She was an excellent seamstress. Above all, she enjoyed her family and friends.
The funeral will be held Friday, Dec. 22, from the Sitkowski & Malboeuf Funeral Home, 340 School St., with a Mass at 10:00 AM in St. Joseph Basilica, 53 Whitcomb Street. Burial will be in St. Joseph Garden of Peace. Calling hours are from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Thursday, Dec 21, in the funeral home.
