Obituary

WORCESTER/STURBRIDGE: Rev. Gregory Boisvert, A.A., 83, died Saturday, Dec. 16, in Kingsport, TN, following a brief illness.

He leaves several cousins. He was preceded in death by his sister Florence.

Born in Fitchburg and raised in Woonsocket, RI, he was the son of Emile and Corinne (Richer) Boisvert. He graduated from Assumption Preparatory School and from Assumption College, both in Worcester. After completing his noviate as an Assumptionist, he continued his theological studies at Laval University in Quebec City. He was ordained a priest in Worcester, MA.

Father Boisvert first taught mathematics, physics and general science at several Assumptionist institutions in this county and abroad for 20 years.

He served as associate pastor at St. Anne & St. Patrick Parish in Sturbridge as well as associate pastor and pastor of several parishes in the Diocese of Knoxville, TN. At the time of his death, he was a senior priest at Saint Dominic Catholic Church in Kingsport, TN. He was the director of ongoing formation for deacons of the Diocese of Knoxville.

A calling hour will be held from 9:00 to 10:00 AM Saturday, Dec. 23, in St. Anne & St. Patrick Church, 16 Church St., Sturbridge, followed by a funeral Mass at 10:00 AM. Burial will be in St. Anne Cemetery, Sturbridge. Memorial contributions may be made to the Assumptionist Vocation Fund, 330 Market St., Brighton, MA 02135. Sitkowski & Malboeuf Funeral Home, 340 School St., Webster, is directing funeral arrangements.
