Raul N. Ramos, Jr., 85, of New Bedford died December 18, 2006 at Brandon Woods of Dartmouth after a long illness.
He was the wife of the late Antonia "Tanya" (Gomes) Ramos.
Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Luzia (Pinto) Ramos and Raul N. Ramos, Sr., he lived in New Bedford all of his life.
Mr. Ramos was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Assumption Church where he served as a Eucharistic Minister and was a member of St. Vincent dePaul Society.
He was formerly employed by The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company for many years until his retirement.
Mr. Ramos was a member of the Cape Verdean Ultra Marine Band Club, Cape Verdean American Retirees Club, Cape Verdean Veterans Association Auxiliary, N.A.A.C.P., the United Social Club, Board of Trustees of New Bedford Vocational High School 1975 - 1977, coach of the Cape Verdean Ultramarine Band Club Softball Team and commissioner of the Ben Rose Softball League.
Survivors include 3 sons, Russell P. Ramos, Randall R. Ramos and Ronald Ramos, and his wife Cheri, all of New Bedford; 2 daughters, Renay Ribeiro and Raulene Martin, and her husband Roger, all of New Bedford; a sister, Patricia Santos, and her husband Napoleon, of New Bedford; a brother, Gualdino, "Sonny" Delgado, and his wife Adeline, of Florida; his son-in-law, Barry Mendes; 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
He was the father of the late Raul N. Ramos, III, Regina Mendes and Ross Ramos and the brother of the late Joseph Senna and Florence "Flossie" Ramos.
Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Home For Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford Thursday, December 21st at 8 AM followed by his Funeral Mass in Our Lady of the Assumption Church at 9 AM. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery. Visiting hours Wednesday, December 20th from 2-4 and 7-9 PM.
