Virginia Johnson Richardson, 73, of Tifton died Monday, December 18, 2006, at Tift Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 21, 2006, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Dr. Wayne Roe will officiate with burial to follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Hull Atwater III, Jimmy Gillespie, Steven Ganey, David Bass, Roger Morey and Stanley Spillers. Honorary pallbearers will be Wallace Bodkin, Grady Keeter, Darrell Dorminey, Martin Porter and Stephen Johnson. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 20, 2006, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Ms. Richardson was born on August 28, 1933 in Brooks County and was the daughter of Herschel Johnson and Agnes Cannon Johnson, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Irwin Henry Richardson, Jr.; and two sons, Victor Herman Richardson and Irwin Henry "Hank" Richardson, III. She was retired from T. W. Tift Company as a bookkeeper and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Tifton.
Ms. Richardson is survived by one son, Bruce Lane Richardson of Tifton; two granddaughters, Ashley Richardson and Haley Richardson; and one great granddaughter, Alexandra Richardson.
