Murphy-Charles M. “Gus” of Medford died at the Winchester Nursing Center in Winchester on December 16th, 2006. He was 86. Charles is the beloved husband of Kathleen B. “Katie” (Griffin) Murphy with whom he celebrated 52 years of marriage. “Gus” as he is known to many, was born in Medford on June 13th, 1920. He is a graduate of Malden Catholic High School, a World War 2 Navy Veteran and a former member of the Irish American Club in Malden. He worked as a Letter Carrier for the U.S. Postal Service in Belmont for over 25 years. He was predeceased by 2 brothers, John and Paul Murphy and is survived by many nieces and nephews. Funeral services are from the A.J. Breslin & Son Funeral Home, 610 Pleasant St., Malden at Medford line on Tuesday Dec. 19th at 8:15 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at Immaculate Conception Church, 600 Pleasant St., Malden at 9 AM. Relatives & friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Monday Dec. 18th from 5-8 PM. Services will conclude with interment in Oak Grove Cemetery in Medford. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Malden Catholic High School Scholarship Fund, 99 Crystal St., Malden, MA 02148.
