Alice D. (Delgado) Harris, 80, of Dorchester died Wednesday December 13, 2006 at Bostonian Nursing Care and Rehabilitation Center after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late David C. Harris, Jr.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Manuel Delgado and Matilda (Pina) Duarte, she lived in New Bedford for many years before moving to Dorchester 30 years ago.
Mrs. Harris was formerly employed as a nurse at Boston City Hospital in the Pediatric Ward.
Survivors include her loving and devoted companion, Freeman Lopes of Dorchester; two sons, David C. Harris, III and his wife Cyndee of Dartmouth; and William C. Harris of Groton, CT; two brothers, John Duarte of Dartmouth and Robert Duarte of New Bedford; four sisters, Edith Costa of East Freetown, Bernice Duarte of Cambridge, Marie Lopes of Oakland, CA, and Bridget Vandiver of New Bedford; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was the mother-in-law of the late Selena Harris, and sister of the late Barbara Pires, William Delgado, Joaquim Duarte, Dorothy Woodland, Pauline Watkins, Mary "Maisie" Oliver, Joseph Duarte, Dominga Soares, and Matilda Perry.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday at 9 AM in Our Lady of the Assumption Church. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery.
