Obituary

Barbara Jean (Arries) Schramm, 76, of Norfolk, died, Tuesday, December 12, 2006 at her home. She was the loving wife of Robert J. Schramm to whom she married in 1950.

Born in Ashville, North Carolina on August 9, 1930, she was the daughter of the late John R. and Emma Lou (Banks) Arries. A resident of Norfolk for the past 30 years, Mrs. Schramm formerly resided in Westlake, Ohio where she graduated from Westlake High School.

She worked at Jos. A. Bank Clothiers in Apple Hill, Natick for the past 22 years, most recently as the assistant manager. She was a member of the Jos. A. Bank President’s Club for her outstanding customer service and had a large following of many Boston area executives as her clientele. During the 1950’s and 60’s, she was a model for several high fashion women’s clothing stores.

She loved traveling “solo” to Europe, in particular to Paris and other fashion capitols and enjoyed driving fine European automobiles, especially her own Mercedes-Benz.

Besides her husband of 56 years, she is survived by; her son, John R. Schramm and his wife, Gretchen of Plainville and her two beloved grandchildren, Connor and Brendan Schramm of Plainville.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral service on Saturday, December 16 at 11 a.m. at the Federated Church of Norfolk, 1 Union St., Norfolk. Interment will follow at Norfolk Cemetery.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the Ginley-Crowley Funeral Home, 3 Barber St in Medway.
