WEBSTER – Burton J. Cobb, 82, of 174 Killdeer Road, died Tuesday, December 12, in UMass Memorial Health Care, Worcester.
He leaves his wife of 31 years, Barbara A. (Hucksam) Cobb; 2 sisters-in-law, Edith E. Hucksam and Lois M. Hucksam, both of Webster; nephews and nieces; grandnephews and grandnieces. He was preceded in death by a brother and 3 sisters.
He was born in Lee, Maine, the son of Burton V. and Alleen C. (Clemons) Cobb, and graduated from Lee Academy in 1941.
He was an Army veteran of World War II.
Mr. Cobb was a painter all his life. He first worked in Southbridge, and then for the Chauvin Paint Store and for Joseph Mailloux, painting contractor, both in Webster. He retired in 1986.
He was a member of Saint Louis Church. He was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans Post #53 and belonged to its Commanders Club.
The funeral will be held Saturday, Dec. 16, from Scanlon Funeral Service, 38 East Main Street, with a Mass at 10:00 AM in Saint Louis Church, 14 Lake St. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Dudley. The Webster-Dudley Veterans Council will provide the military honors. A calling period will be from 8:15 to 9:15 AM Saturday, Dec. 16, in the funeral home. Donations in his memory may be made to either the Disabled American Veterans Post #53, 4 Veterans’ Way, or to Hubbard Regional Hospital, 340 Thompson Road, or to Saint Louis Church Elevator Fund, 15 Lake St., all in Webster, MA 01570.
