Obituary

Lettie Lee Henderson Sullivan Metts, 93, of Alapaha died Tuesday, December 12 at her residence.

Funeral services will be held 2 P.M., Friday, December 15, at Mt. Paron Primitive Baptist Church in Berrien County with Rev. John Gibbs, Jr., and Jackie Lee Clark Officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 PM, Thursday evening at the funeral home in Ocilla.

Mrs. Metts was born June 7, 1913, in Irwin County to the late James Duncan and Winnie Edge Henderson. She was adopted and raised by Riley & Elizabeth Sullivan after the Okechobee flood of 1923, which she survived and her father died in. She lived in the Alapaha community most of her life and was a former employee of Amoco Mills in Nashville. Mrs. Metts was one of the founders of Griffin Baptist Church in Berrien County and was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Irwin County.

Mrs. Metts is survived by a son and daughter-in-law: Jerry L. & Connie Metts of Alapaha; Grandchildren and their spouses: Nancy & Scott Stone of Fitzgerald and Lisa & Jody Tucker of Alapaha; great-grandchildren: Justin Stone, Leigha Stone, Abby Stone and Katelyn Tucker along with many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Randle L. Metts, 7 brothers and 1 sister, Little Dan, John T., Emmett, U.V. “B”, James Dalton, Velda Henderson, George Ashley Henderson Sullivan and Katie Henderson.
