William "Ralph" Shaw of Ty Ty died Wednesday, December 13, 2006 at Tift Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 15, 2006, at 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Ty Ty. Rev. Danny Jones will officiate with burial to follow in the First Baptist Church of Ty Ty Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Russell Shaw, Steve Shaw, Bill Warren, Frank Willis, Sephus Willis and Roger Watson. Deacons of the First Baptist Church of Ty Ty will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 14, 2006, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. The body will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service.
Mr. Shaw was born on April 17, 1912 in Nashville and was the son of Jack Shaw and Ula Shaw, both deceased. He was also preceded in death by one son, Bill Shaw; and four brothers. He was a retired merchant and a member of the First Baptist Church of Ty Ty, where he served as a deacon. He had lived in Ty Ty for 61 years and had served as a member of the Town Council of Ty Ty and a poll worker for Tift County Elections.
Mr. Shaw is survived by his wife of 70 years, Inez M. Shaw of Ty Ty; one son and daughter-in-law, Robert M. "Bob" Shaw and his wife, Tommie, of Ty Ty; one daughter-in-law, Harriett Shaw of Ty Ty; two grandsons and their spouses, Steve Shaw and his wife, Cindy, and Russell Shaw and his wife, Michelle; and three great grandchildren, Ashley Shaw, Spencer Shaw and Nathan Shaw.
