Doris Cox Brewer, 81, of Tifton died Tuesday, December 12, 2006, at Tift Health Care. Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 15, 2006, at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Elder E. L. "Buck" Wood will officiate with burial to follow in Old Ty Ty Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be W. F. McFarland, Donald Mims, Lanier Wiard, Bill Griffin, Stephen May and Dale Cox. The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 14, 2006, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Ms. Brewer was born on October 1, 1925 in Tift County and was the daughter of Alton Hobbs and Annie Mae Hobbs, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Charlie W. Cox; her second husband, Ollis Franklin Brewer, who died on February 24, 2001; one son, Kenneth D. Cox; two sisters, Ruby Hobbs and Josephine Bailey; and one grandson, Patrick Cox. She was a homemaker and a member of Old Ty Ty Primitive Baptist Church. She had lived in Tift County all of her life.
Ms. Brewer is survived by one son, Greg Cox of Cherryville, North Carolina; two daughters, Tammy A. Cox of Tifton and Brenda J. Brewer of Tifton; two brothers, Larry Hobbs of Tifton and A. J. Hobbs; two sisters, Lillie Mae Sauls of Tifton and Norma Frances of Baldwin, Florida; four grandchildren, Sonya May, Krista Griffin, Betsy Dellinger and Margaret Cox; and four great grandchildren, Kasey Griffin, Joshua May, Lauren May and Jack Dellinger.
