Norfolk—Olga P. (Pardon) Diaz 84, died Friday December 8, 2006 at the Thomas Upham House in Medfield, following a long illness. She was the former wife of the late Modesto Siaz Sr.
Born in Matanzas, Cuba December 4, 1922 a daughter of the late Agapito and Brigida (Sanchez) Pardon, she formerly lived in Newton and Miami, before moving to Norfolk.
Raised and educated in Cuba, Mrs. Diaz worked in elementary schools in Cuba as a special educational teacher. She came to the United States in 1960, shortly after the overthrow of the government by Fidel Castro.
She is survived by a daughter Olga D. Grabau and her husband Charles of Norfolk, and 2 grandsons Gabriel and Nicholas Grabau of Norfolk.
She was the mother of the late Modesto Diaz Jr. and the sister of the late Juan Pardon and Isabel Coll.
A graveside service was held on Saturday December 9, 2006 at Norfolk Cemetery. Rev. Robert Rivard FMSI of St. Jude’s Church and longtime family friend officiated.
Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Charles F. Oteri and Son Franklin Funeral Home 33 Cottage St.
