Margaret H. Billingsley, 78 of Derry, NH died Sunday December 10, 2006 in the Pleasant Valley Nursing Center, Derry. Mrs. Billingsley was born in Derry on April 2, 1928 a daughter of the late Augustine and Irene (Bertrand) Sheedy and was a lifelong resident. She was a graduate of Pinkerton Academy in Derry Class of 1946 and later attended Hesser College in Manchester. She was employed by all the shoe companies in Derry over the years before retiring from Klev Bros. Shoe Co. She enjoyed square dancing and was a member of the Space Town Squares in Derry. She sang in the choir at St. Thomas Aquinas Church and also with the Sweet Adelines. She was a member of the VFW Post 1617 Ladies Auxiliary in Derry. She enjoyed traveling with the Senior Friends at Parkland Medical Center in Derry and Shirley’s Friends in Hudson.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Herbert S. Billingsley of Derry, two children, Alan Billingsley of Derry, Susan Bonne of Huntsville, AL, five grandchildren, three sisters, Paula Davis and her husband Milton of Manchester, Mary Lou Tomkiewicz of The Villages, FL, Karen Dolan and her husband David of Goffstown, NH, three brothers, William Sheedy and his wife Marilyn of Northport, FL, George Sheedy and his wife Rose Mary of Greensboro, GA, Augustine “Gus” Sheedy and his wife Pearl of Derry, a sister-in-law, Gay Sheedy (wife of Robert Sheedy who died in July 2006), also many nieces and nephews. In addition to her brother, she was also predeceased by her son, Joseph Billingsley and daughter Donna Billingsley.
There were no calling hours. A mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Thursday December 14th at 10:00am in St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 26 Crystal Ave., Derry. Following cremation, burial was in Holy Cross Cemetery, Londonderry. Memorial contributions may be made to Manchester Boys and Girls Club Building Fund, 555 Union St., Manchester, NH 03104. The Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry is handling arrangements.
