Almira D. (Gifford) Lauterbach, 91, of Harwich died Saturday September 28, 2002 at Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis. She was the wife of the late Louis J. Lauterbach and Albert A. Belli.
Born in Westport, the daughter of the late Edgar F. and Clara E.L. (Allen) Gifford, she had lived in New Bedford for many years before moving to Harwich 20 years ago.
She was a member of Pilgrim Congregational Church of Harwichport.
Mrs. Lauterbach was formerly employed as a telephone operator with the New England Telephone Company in New Bedford and Taunton. She was later employed as a sales clerk for several pharmacies in New Bedford and Dartmouth and at the Mill Store in Dennis.
Survivors include a niece, Jean W. Beale of Marion; a nephew, William Gifford of New Bedford; a grandnephew, Tracy Beale of Marion; a grandniece, Melissa Beale of Marion; an aunt, Doris Hart of Fall River; 4 stepchildren; 18 stepgrandchildren; 25 step-greatgrandchildren; 4 step-great-greatgrandchildern; and several cousins.She was the sister of the late Edgar B. Gifford.
Her Memorial Service will be held on Monday October 7, 2002 at 11:30 AM in the Saunders-Dwyer Mattapoisett Home for Funerals, 50 County Rd., (Route 6), Mattapoisett. Burial in Beech Grove Cemetery, Westport will be private. Her family will receive visitors from 11-11:30 AM prior to the service.
