Willis Michael "Mike" Waldrop, 58, died Sunday, December 10, 2006, at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 13, 2006, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Rev. Eddie Allen and Rev. John S. Gibbs, Sr. will officiate with burial to follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery. Mayo Tucker, Ray Goodman, Gary Keen, Jerry Dill, Tommy Griffin, Mann Griner, Joe Barnes and Mark Redlinger will serve as pallbearers. Mike's baseball team, the Georgia Road Dogs, will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 12, 2006, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mr. Waldrop was born on October 3, 1948 in Tifton and was the son of James "Jimmy" Waldrop, deceased, and Alma Griffin Waldrop of Ty Ty. In addition to his father, he was also preceded in death by his first wife, Cecilia Ann Evans Waldrop and his daughter, Mimi Waldrop. He was owner of Waldrop Construction Company and of the Baptist faith. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and had lived in Tifton all of his life.
In addition to his mother, Mr. Waldrop is survived by his wife, Carla Bryant Waldrop of Tifton; two sons, Mikie Waldrop of Thomasville and Ross Waldrop of Tifton; one step-son, Zack Gillespie of Tifton; two brothers, Randall Waldrop of Ty Ty and Wendell Waldrop of Tifton; and two grandchildren, Rodge Waldrop and Caleb Gillespie.
