Mr. Joseph D. Galluzzo, age 85, died Friday December 8, 2006, in Boston at the New England Medical Center, after a lengthy illness. Born in Calabria, Italy, Joseph was the devoted son of the late Carmella (Simonetti) & Guiseppi Galluzzo.
Joseph Galluzzo came to the United States in 1939, at the age of 17. He immediatley started to work as a tailor and a year later bought a house in Somerville. He met his wife Ellen and they have been married for the last 58 years. Joe worked at Saks 5th Ave. for the last 24 years and retired in 1991. In his retirement he enjoyed spending time with his loving grandchildren.
In addition to his beloved wife Ellen (Spence), Joe is survived by his devoted children, James Galluzzo and his wife Mariajose of Brockton, Susan Farnham and Joseph Galluzzo both of Somerville. Also survived by 5 loving grandchildren and 1 loving great granddaughter.
Funeral from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., MEDFORD, Tuesday at 9 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Benedict Church, 21 Hathorne St. Somerville at 10 am. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
Visiting hours Monday 5 thru 9.
Services will conclude with burial at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.
