Dominic J. ‘Dom” DiCarlo, 86 of Medford died Friday unexpectedly in the Massachusetts General Hospital Boston, MA.
Born in Cambridge, he has lived in Medford for the past 52 years and was the son of the late Santa (DeLuca) and Santo DiCarlo.
Dominic was a Maintenance Supervisor, employed by the former Lechmere Sales in Cambridge for over 20 years and retired in 1986. He entered the U.S. Army in November 1942 and went to Ft. Benning, GA for basic training where he was assigned to the 10th Armd. Division. After basic training he went to Tennessee maneuvers and was promoted to Corporal as a Tank Gunner. Dominic went overseas in 1944 and became a Sergeant and took over the duties as a Tank Commander in the battles of ETO. He as awarded the Bronze Star Citation and an Oak Leaf Cluster, three Battle Stars, ETO Ribbon and the Good Conduct Ribbon. Dominic was discharged in October of 1945.
Mr. DiCarlo was Grand Deputy of the Winchester Sons of Italy Lodge, a member of the Sons of Italy Medford Lodge and the South End Italian Club in Woburn.
Beloved husband of 59 years to Stella (Vicari)DiCarlo. Devoted father of Sandra DiGiacomo and her husband Richard of Medford, Philip DiCarlo and his wife Rita of Saugus, Connie Sicuso and her husband John of Stoneham. Loving grandfather of Jennifer and Juli DiGiacomo, Daniel, Paul and the late Mark DiCarlo, Gina and Ariana Sicuso. Brother of Josephine Celi of California, and the late Grace Trocano, and Marie Carriere.
Funeral from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., MEDFORD Tuesday at 8 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 118 High St., Medford, at 9 AM.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
Visiting hours Monday 4 - 8.
Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
